New Home Needs a New Garden!The new residential development at Blythe Valley offers a contemporary style collection of new homes conveniently located on the outskirts of Solihull.
Whilst some new build homes may have custom designed and landscaped gardens, most homebuyers are faced with paving, turf or bare ground, a feature tree and some low level shrubs planted and fencing installed. |
New Garden Inspiration
The client had a good idea of the kind of garden she wanted and the style of outdoor space she was looking to achieve. Drawing from garden inspiration seen on social media (Instagram), the client had ideas for a contemporary style garden with porcelain paving - low maintenance was key. Layout, features and finishings were undecided. The client envisioned her new contemporary style garden would be completed before the end of September; the opportunity to enjoy the late summer was inviting.
Finding a Good Landscaper
The main challenges the client faced initially was finding a good landscaper, available and with the desired level of knowledge and experience to design and build her new garden. Two initial meetings with landscapers followed but without success:
- The first landscaper priced the job without taking measurements or considering materials for the works. He seemed to pluck a price out of nowhere.
- The second landscaper visited. He walked around making suggestions on a proposed layout for the garden and he preferred working with natural stone as it was easier for him to obtain and lay.
Landscaping Project - More than a Landscaping Job!
We were approached by the client who briefed us on her progress so far. She wanted to hire a reputable landscaper who could deliver her garden project from start to finish. Our lead landscaper and our designer met with the client. We discussed ideas and shared visions of how the garden could be transformed. We agreed to measure-up and put the measurements into a practical garden layout plan.
Concept to Completion
Following on from an initial consultation, our designer created the practical design layout plan. The plan was used to cost the project more accurately and provide some certainty for the proposed budget.
